Virgin Blue mitigates risk with OBDS ECL Services

MONTREAL -- On October 2nd, 2009 Captain Paul Considine, Fleet Manager for Virgin Blue Airlines, gave a presentation at the Worldwide Embraer User's Conference extolling the safety and risk mitigation benefits of using electronic checklists fleet-wide.
The Honeywell Primus EPIC has a state-of-the-art electronic checklist with automatic sensor checkoff and decision capability built-in. so why doesn't every pilot use it?
The short answer is -- most fleet managers don't know the steps it takes to configure an ECL for their fleet. Those fleet managers that do know the steps don't know how to do it cost effectively.
